The Importance Of Euthanasia

Death is something everybody experiences. I believe everyone should be informed about the facts of dying, and information should not be kept from anyone. You don’t have to tell every detail to someone if they are unable to understand or deal with certain specifics, but I do believe everyone should be educated about death and dying. Each person has his or her own point of view of death and each person will also deal with death differently. No one way is right or wrong. Children can sometimes be too young to really understand what goes on, but they should not have to grow up and figure this out on their own. Death is something parents should explain to children as they grow up. “This is in great contrast to a society in which death is viewed …show more content…
Should an individual have the right to say “It is time”? I believe that if there is any chance that a person might make it, then they should not have this option. If a person still has a pretty good quality of life and is not suffering, then there is no reason that they should have this option. Otherwise, if a person is suffering and the quality of their life is poor then they should have this choice. No person should have to suffer because that is a terrible way of living. Also, I believe that the person, his or her spouse, or children if the person is very elderly, should be the only ones to make the decision. I do not think the doctor or other healthcare professionals, such as a caseworker, should be able to make this decision. Healthcare professionals do not always care as much as we would like them to and are not as personally attached to their patients as immediate family members would be. I do think euthanasia should be an option but with restrictions. One of the most important restrictions should be that the patient is in their right mind when they make the decision. A decision such as this can be made in legal documents such as living wills or advanced …show more content…
When we think of death, we know that one day we will lose our parents and grandparents, aunts and uncles. We do not reflect on our own mortality. The one certainty in life is that we will all die. Some lives are much shorter than others. Some babies do not live long enough to take their first breath, while some elderly live so long they do not remember their names, how to eat, or what day it is. There is no guarantee on how long any one person will live. If we truly reflect on the one certainty in life, I would bet we chose to live each day differently. Some people might be more loving and kind, while others might learn to stand up for themselves instead of being walked over and taken advantage of all the time. Whichever path an individual chooses to take, they would still be putting forth the effort to take greater control of each moment they are alive. If one knows that today was his or her last day, what changes would he or she make? Would that person forgive someone that wronged them; would they ask for forgiveness from someone they wronged? Would they make it a priority to spend time with those they love? These are just a few questions we should ask ourselves and even if we were not going to die today or tomorrow, we should still strive to make the most of each day and live life to the fullest each moment. We are not guaranteed any moments in the

Death is an inseparable, inevitable, and an unavoidable part of life. It should not cause us to live in fear, but rather to live every moment or every second of the life to its fullest. It is important to not bury our heads in the sand, instead, to make responsible preparations which include our wishes for best for our family, friends, and relatives and also financial and legal arrangements for those who are left. Death gives us total reason for living because it provides us structure on how we appreciate and how we guide our lives. We should prioritize every important thing or activities or even the goals that we plan to accomplish before our eternal voyage.…

Epicurus, Lucretius, and Nagel are philosophers with very different views on death, and whether death is bad for the person who dies. Their understanding of life and what happens when it ceases, is the distinguishing factor. Epicurus was a philosopher who understood the universe and life as being composed of matter in the form of small particles. He stated that when one dies, the particles which make up our existence dissolve and our consciousness comes to an end. He considers what he understands to be mental and physical pain and pleasures to determine the various aspects of life.…

I was born to a Hindu family – and therefore, I call myself a Hindu, based on the cultural exposures that I have had through my family and my religious community. And yet Hinduism for me is like a foundation, one on which I have built my own perceptions of God and religion, based on my own life experiences. My particular views may therefore seem unique at best, blasphemous at worst – but they will have a great impact on how I act as a patient, and as a physician. Like many Hindus, I believe in reincarnation. Traditionally, reincarnation means that after death, souls are reborn many times to repay their debts, to right their wrongs, and to rid themselves of their past karmas, or deeds, until they are ready to become one with God.…
