We are living in an age of nutritionism, which varies so much from original tradition diets focused on food as opposed to nutrients. The Western diet falls short of adequately providing nutrition, and the results are telling with how pervasive chronic diseases are now. Healthful eating provides many benefits and an opportunity to enjoy foods on a greater level in new ways, however it does take more effort to upkeep. The context in which foods and nutrients are consumed has great importance, and balanced use of knowledge of nutrients and foods as a whole is…

Ben Kim, in “A Strict Vegetarian Diet is Unhealthy for Most People” discusses why a strict vegan diet is not a healthy diet for humans in the long run, which is the main claim in the article. The author provided factual sub-claims as well as sub-claims of value. The sub-points relate to the main point in that they tell about the health risks of a strict vegan diet and the confusion that can be placed upon the pro-vegan organizations.…
Healthy Snacking If I had a dime for every time I heard, “I hate diets”, I could buy my own orchard. Well, before undergoing Bariatric surgery, I possibly would have concurred. Embarking on this weight loss journey demonstrated to me that I’m better off overhauling my thinking - not just for me, but for my entire family. Diets do not have to be boring and tasteless.…
When I was only ten years old, I told my mother I wanted to be a funeral director and/or embalmer when I got older. Thirteen years later, I am still saying that same phrase, but only this time it is hitting a little closer to home. I have been waiting 4,745 days to finally be able to say that I am only one year away from achieving that long term goal of mine and I could not be more excited. Although I knew exactly what I wanted to do at such young age, I did not apply to mortuary science school straight out of high school like I could have. After I received my academic honors diploma from high school, I attended Saint Mary’s College, Notre Dame.…
In the book “ The Death Cure”, the world is unsafe and the people in it are also unsafe. People take off from the airport without communicating to the main flight tower, fake documents are being made and the people from the government won’t recognize if it is real or not, also there appears to be sick people all over the place and they are highly contagious of spreading the sickness, the Flare virus to people. This essay is about how the world in the book is dangerous and several reasons why it is dangerous. First off, bergs, which are huge UFOs that the billionaires have in the book which were stolen by the WICKED (World in Catastrophe, Killzone Experiment Department) corporation, are taking off from the ground without communication to the flight tower. Which also takes up everyone’s time if they had to go somewhere important.…

In the address Steve Jobs makes in 2005 at Stanford University, he explains his experience with looking death in the eyes. He makes it apparent that when you know your going to die it will clear your soul and your mind. Death is something no one wants but we all will achieve some day. Steve Jobs also makes it clear that no matter who you are, you don’t want to die, even if it is to get to heaven. The claims that steve jobs makes on the value of life and how death can change it in an instant is more than true, it's reality.…
This past week, we had the International Congress on Vegetarian Nutrition. For the first symposium, they discussed the topic of epidemiological studies of vegetarians, finding different cohorts studies and how it could affect health in the future. The Adventist Health Study-2 (AHS-2) it a long and extensive cohort study evaluating and comparing health outcomes amongst Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) vegetarian and non-SDA meat-based diets. These days, when we think about healthy eating we tend to think of it as expensive and inconvenient. We are in such a rush to go about our daily lives that we put our health on the wayside. We see that it’s easier to grab a burger and fries on our lunch break. We think of it as a strict diet, one that will deprive us of the food we love. What we don’t think about are the benefits that healthy eating has on our bodies.…
