Scream Factory broadens its horizons a bit by releasing the Blu-ray debut of the Oscar-winning dark comedy “Death Becomes Her” in a Collector’s Edition. Although it definitely fits into the supernatural realm, many would argue Robert Zemeckis’s 1992 hit is a little tame to be released under Shout Factory’s horror umbrella. Either way, it merits the extra special care it gets from the company. A star-studded cast headed up by Bruce Willis, Goldie Hawn, and Meryl Streep all give elegantly wicked performances based on a story by Martin Donovan (“The Courtship of Eddie’s Father”) and David Koepp (“Jurassic Park,” “Panic Room”).

Here he's a whimpering mess being led around by two women who take advantage of and mentally and verbally abuse him. Goldie Hawn and Meryl Streep are delightfully wicked as the two self-centered women who seek eternal life and servitude from Willis's character.

Director Robert Zemeckis captures the black comedy of "Death Becomes Her" and blends it with a shot of social commentary to give it more depth. Cinematographer Dean Cundey pulls us into the movie through his use of modern Gothic settings and wonderfully moody lighting. All his hard work truly gives the movie a noir feeling that somehow still works even in color.

Industrial, Light, and Magic did an incredible job once again pushing the boundaries of their craft to a whole new level with “Death Becomes

When picturing the impeccable villain, most would automatically, based on what they have seen, read or experienced, picture someone or perhaps something quite petrifying-looking whose pure intention is to act absolutely horrendously. For some villains, however, this is not the entire case. Ann Pettway, from the movie "Abducted: The Carlina White Story" directed by Vondie Curtis-Hall, clandestine past, unyielding determination, and mediocre appearance all compose the ideal devious villain whom remains unsuspected for decades. In the beginning of the film, Curtis-Hall bounces back and forth between a heart-breaking, tragic scene starring the villain herself, Ann Pettway, and a more elated scene, taken place not far from Pettway, starring a…

As a child, the motion picture that frightened me more than anything was Candyman. The minor notice of the film sent me into a progression of trembling whimpers. Despite being a child at the time, I was not fearful and apprehensive of most thrillers. Truth be told thrillers and blood and guts films charmed me and dragged me into their plot with its groveling tentacles. For some, Toshiya Fujita’s revenge film “Lady Snowblood” will inevitably be linked to Quentin Tarantino’s “Kill Bill vol. 1”, for which it was a major inspiration; Tarantino borrowed aspects of the plot and narrative structure, used the song ‘The flower of carnage’ and let the cinematography inspire him. For all the influence “Lady Snowblood” had on Tarantino, it might be surprising to conclude that the two “Lady snowblood” movies have an anomalous character in Fujita’s oeuvre, as nothing he made, before or after, bares any stylistic resemblance to the first and second movie. But how anomalous these narratives may have been, what Fujita created with “Lady snowblood” is nothing short of a cult classic. The narrative of “Lady snowblood” starts…
