On this day in 1945, Adolph Hitler and his wife, Eva Braun disappeared into their private apartment in an underground bunker in Berlin. The Soviets were bearing down on their location, and everyone knew that it was simply a matter of time before they would be captured. Around 3:30 P.M., a gunshot was heard coming from the apartment and SS soldiers raced to determine the situation.
