Dearest Kitty: The Diary Of Anne Frank

“Dearest Kitty. . .” the diary entry that began it all, the horrendous pain, yet undetailed historical diary that told the unwritten past. The diary of a young girl who was in hiding from the Nazis; the diary of Anne Frank. Her diary tells the historical past about the event named the Holocaust. In the Holocaust many Jewish people went into hiding, though more, though more than half of the were captured. Anne Frank’s diary follows her experiences and consequences, while being in hiding. Her family, along with others, have their story told.
The Frank’s and the Van Pels hid in a place named the Secret Annex. It was hidden in plain sight; the city, in a warehouse building where people worked. The attic that they hid in, though, the door was covered by a bookcase. That eliminated almost all of the suspicion that someone could be hiding upstairs. No one would have suspected it. Every single day workers would be below the Franks from eight in the morning to six in the evening. For nine hours the Franks and Van Pels would have to be absolutely silent. Illnesses were a constant threat while they were in hiding. It was not like they could go to a doctor, and we must not forget what time period they lived in! If you had a certain illness could mean certain death! We learn how everyone deals with this threat at the beginning of Act 2 on page 326, we find out how stressed everyone is because Margot was sick. Not only were the stakes high for Margot, but because it was crowded everyone was at risk. Leading to the biggest threat of all: getting caught. They had so many rules and requirements: be quiet, can not run any water, trash had to burned, and no shoes! How they managed to do all of that is out of my imagination, after all they are just
