Dear Sugar Summary

Tiny beautiful things Advice on love and life from Dear Sugar by Cheryl Strayed is a unique book in a sense that most writer writes one long story instead of a plethora of letters sent by anonymous writers to the wonderful Sugar. Sugar is not a psychologist, but many still write to her seeking advice about their life. The letters varied, so sugar hand picked the one she liked and published them on her book. I think her criteria was if she could somehow present an event that happened in her life and tie it with the story, and of course, if her audience can relate to either the anonymous letter or her response to catch their attentions. Personally, I love the beginning of the book. It was all wild stories from working with children having personal

The Breathtaking Brown Girl Dreaming Initially when I began Jacqueline Woodson 's Brown Girl Dreaming I wasn 't convinced her choice of writing style was for me. I didn 't fully grasp how an autobiography could be written in verse and still flow like a narrative. However, Woodson laid to rest any concerns or doubts I may have had prior to starting this delightful novel. I have never been one to avidly seek out memoirs; I get bored with them after only just beginning them.…

One of the assets which the author possesses is phrasing and choice of words. Her sentence structures flowed very nicely and did not run on too much. It was pleasing to read and wasn’t too complicated to understand. Furthermore, the author of this book also used great detail in her story. In order for a story to be enjoyable to read, the writer should be able to take you to a whole new world through his or her own words.…

Molly Bang Paper When thinking of this assignment, I immediately knew which book I was going to choose. I felt that choosing a favorite book from my childhood could be a fun way to see the differences in how I viewed it then, and how I might view it today. As a child, I was in love with Mercer Mayer’s “Little Critter” books (and still am today). I decided not to go searching for an easy or popular book, rather I wanted to take one I know and love and see if/how Molly Bang’s principles were applied.…

I have so many different thoughts and opinions about this book. I started out loving Has to Be Love, was super conflicted in the middle, but thought the ending was pretty spectacular. Like I said, conflicted. Our narrator, Clara, was rather frustrating to read about because she was so torn between what decisions to make about particular things, but she was a truthful character (to us at least). Reading Clara's justifications for wanting certain things made me more interested in the story and what would eventually happen…

I think the book, “Diary of a Wimpy Kid Double down”, written by Jeff Kinney, was an awesome book. The book is about a young kid, like me, who is just learning his common sense and his moral ethics. The book was very entertaining to read as it gives the perspective of a young boy, Greg Heffley, of his not-so-ordinary life. People may think he’s ordinary, but when you get into his everyday life, it gets weird. He has an older brother, which I can relate to, and he’s always trying to get out of work, no matter what.…
