It is very important to keep a positive attitude in any time of conflict. A quote by Dr. Wayne Dyer says “If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.” Keeping a positive attitude is what will give you motivation to keep going in a time of trouble. During a troubled time, Anne Frank had kept a positive outlook even though she knew that something wasn’t right. She wrote in her diary to keep her going, to give her motivation.
In the story of Anne Frank,in order to keep positive, she writes in a diary about her daily life in hiding. She often wrote about her family life, and her friends before and after she went into hiding. Anne wrote about her friend, Hello. In the text it says “And so we walked together. Hello is sixteen and good at telling all kinds of funny stories. He was waiting for me again this morning, and I expect he will be from now on.” (Frank; 5-6) This is telling us that she thinks highly of Hello, and enjoys his company when she walks to school. Anne knows that she will have to go into hiding soon, but she wants to make what she has left, positive. Even little things like Hello walking to school with her, gives her motivation and provides a positive attitude towards the situation.

She knew how awful it was to be there, but she also had remained positive. In the text it says “Yesterday I ate rice, weenies, and cabbage with a knife. That was a new experience for me! You never realize how valuable a thing is until you experience it. The dining rooms are very small here because there is one to each block.” (Ogawa; 22) This is showing us that even though her current situation is not the best, she still remains positive about most anything. Louise shows a sign of positivity in her letter, because she doesn’t focus on the things that are bad, but what is going good for her.
