Dear Mama 2upac Analysis

Dear mama, by 2pac Shakur is dedicated to his mother. It outlines not only the struggles of his mother, but children, women & families alike. He describes the lowlights of his mother's drug addiction, finding a sense of family with gang members and then finally the climb out of his rough upbringings and reflection on the positives.

The songs starts off with a warm, soft rhythm and harmony. "You are appreciated" is one of the most powerful lines throughout the whole song. It carries so much meanings, backrounds and hardship. Despite all the negative brought upon 2pac by his mother's drug addiction she still was able to display the love and care that shaped him into the man he was. He was able to look past his mother's drug addiction and accept her for who she was. "Even as a crack queen mama, you always was a black queen mama." The song tells us they were both able to look past their issues. Tupac tells us about how difficult it was having his mom visit him while he was in jail. However, what sums up the line "You are appreciated." the most of me is "I can see you coming home after work late, in kitchen trying to fix us a hot plate." "Mama made miracles." That line shows that through all the drama, uncertainty, and doubt

"I hung around with the thugs, and even they sold drugs they showed a young brother love." It's distinguished for Tupac that the crowd he is hanging around is not in the best interest for him nor his family but what they bring for him outweighs that. It out weights it on a emotional level. His dad, or better yet the lack of a dad is prominently stated in the song. Without a father figure people, especially teenagers tend to be lost and search for things to replace that father figure. For Tupac it was gang affiliation. Even though his mother showed love and affection his relationship with the gang members gave him a sense of family that he felt he

Tupac, one of the most influential and acclaimed rappers of all time, wrote The Rose That Grew From Concrete, a very insightful poem that integrates itself deeply with societal roles. For my visual representation I decided to first draw the imagery the poem creates, that is the rose that grew from concrete. I interpreted that because Tupac and the people he associated himself with were apart of minority groups, himself being shot to his death in a gang-related crime; because of this I believed that the rose growing from concrete was an analogy for the rare success of someone from an harsh and challenging upbringing. The rose and those in minority groups both have it extremely difficult to rise from where they are expected. The rose arises…
