Some similarities between the two films is that they have the same plot structure, the same types of characters, and that the costume for the mountain man is realistic. In the movies I noticed when all the characters were signing they were all on the screen. I think this is because you will not know what they are saying and it will get confusing. Like when the kids got in an argument they were all shown on the screen to show what they were saying. In a deaf film more emotion is showed, this is because they can’t explain to the other person what they are feeling. When the grandfather was upset with the children he didn’t have just a blank face, he had shown through is facial expressions that he was upset. Last but not least deaf films don’t have any sound which is pretty clear. It wouldn’t be an all ASL film if it had sound. This evidence is because I couldn’t hear any sound when playing the movie. The list of differences were tremendous but only these few stood out as the most significant ones on the list.
As explained in the essay a hearing film and a deaf film have similarities and differences, and that they are to show how much the movies are alike and not alike. I do believe that these two films are quite similar excluding the vast amount differences that come up in both the films.
