's story. T.L. lost the majority of her hearing when she was younger and became hard of hearing. She was not completely deaf and did not pursue American Sign Language as a way to communicate. She relied on her small about of hearing and lip reading to understand people. Her passion was for singing and and song writing and she worked hard to become a successful artist. I thought that it was really cool the amount of effort that she put into her music because she had to take a lot of vocal lessons to learn how to make different pitches with her voice. The most interesting part about T.L. 's story for me was that she struggled to fit into the hearing world and the deaf world. She was not completely hearing but at the same time she was not completely deaf. Many people would try to place her in categories and judge her based on her hearing abilities. When trying to record music with a recording studio the managers would ask if she was really deaf because she could sing. I thought that it was very unfair the way she was treated by the people around her. I found T.L. 's story the most interesting because I have a friend that feels the same way. My friend goes through the same problem at her school. My friend is hard of hearing and can talk with people, but she has trouble understanding them. Many people at her school will not talk to her because they think she is 'disabled ' and is not capable of communicating with people. She talked with me one time about how she felt like she didn 't fit into the hearing world or the deaf world, just like T.L.. After watching this film, I shared the T.L. 's story with her and she found it to be very
