Great post, you did a great job of defining what dead force actually is and what constitutes deadly force. Deadly force should only be used as a last resort unless you are defining yourself are the safety of another person. There are instances where officer must make a split decision on what to do and sometimes deadly force is needed. If an officer can show that he or she believe the suspect possessed a significant threat then deadly force is acceptable.
