In both the “Dead Poets Society” and “The Graduate” the boy’s journey to find themselves as people and discover who they really are. For example, in “Dead Poets Society,” Mr. Keating encourages the boys to seek themselves and and live life to the fullest everyday. One example of this is the camera work within the two films. When viewing the movie “The Graduate,” the camera shots are very distinct and you can clearly tell that the different views are trying to convey emotion. Whereas in the movie “Dead Poets Society,” the camera work is less obvious and defined. Each film allowed the viewer to observe the films in a way based on the defined camera works specific to each movie. Another example within the two movies is the music within the two films. The music within “The Graduate” is very noticeable and changes based on Benjamin’s emotions. In contrast, the music within “Dead Poets Society” is significantly less noticeable as the film immerses the viewer more than with the case of “The Graduate” . All in all, when comparing the two movies, “The Graduate” and “Dead Poets Society,” the two films have multiple similarities while at the same time are stacked with differences. In conclusion, “The Graduate” although similar, didn’t present the idea of a “coming to age movie” as well as it’s counterpart, “Dead Poets
