In the first stanza, line 5 says, “A cool bop daddy.” This refers to someone who played jazz music. The stanza also discusses that the jazz player’s funeral is at night time and he is being carried “home” which alludes to a graveyard. In the second stanza, lines 8 and 9 state, “He’ll never hype another paddy.” These lines explain that the jazz player won’t be able to play his music again. Similarly, in stanza three lines 12 and 13 say, “He’ll never lay a hype nowhere!” This expresses that he can’t play music anymore because he is dead.
