It is a pleasure to scrutinize the work of both Philip Levine “what work is” and Kim Addonizio “Dead Girl.” In both articles, the theme of youth and despair are explored by the writers as they analyze aspects of the lives of young girls and a young man. They spoke of the struggles that they go through as well as their feelings towards this life and how they handle it. They look into how the authors’ view on relationships or lack of it, and how it affects a young man and young girls in the current society.
