On Long Island, New York, a high school band stood out among the rest, and it not only attracted Price Paul, who he was the producer in the New York Rap world at the time, but also had he made them their first album. It was formed by three young men, Posdnuos, Trugoy the Dove, and Pasemaster Maseo at the end of the1980s. The band was called “De La Soul,” which means “from the soul.” Many of their songs were based on humorous and psychedelic abstract sampling styles, combined with the bass of The Long Island trio, they soon won audience’s favor. As their popularity grows, many people stereotyped them as “hippies” due to the fact that most of their songs express dissatisfaction toward the society. In 1989, they released a single called “Me, Myself, and I” to respond to the audience.
