Review of Literature
In review of the literature found supporting the concept of aggression in the workplace, there are many articles that explain and summarize the findings and data for aggression. Here are four main articles to be most appropriate because of the research found in them and the data or measure used to supply the information.
Nursing
In the first article, De-Escalating Workplace Aggression (2003), the author, John Del Bel, explains the seriousness of violence in the health care workplace, concluding that it’s an epidemic in all societies, including the world developing today. Data is collected via surveys and questionnaire presented to its employees. With this data, it is then used to measure workplace aggression and its occurrences. Each article states the nature of workplace violence as any verbal or physical harm to an employee or nurse. Nurses are subjected each day to potential verbal or physical aggression from patients, family, or staff. As with the hospitals, there is workplace aggression in other disciplines of work, when a supervisor uses verbal aggression towards an employee it is considered workplace
