I had an extremely good experience competing in this case competition. There were many things that stood out to me during this experience. The first was the judges. I thought the judges did an excellent job with giving feedback to each and every student that presented and gave honest critics of their performance. I even had the opportunity to get an Eli Lilly judge’s contact information for later reference. At many times in the project, I found myself directing the division of work and the other members in the group. I am also thankful for the leadership of my other group members. With only a week to finish this process, each and every minute counts. We developed a list of goals and a schedule that we followed. Management such as this can be used in all facets of business. I hope to take these leadership and management skills with me for years to come.
4. What would have helped you better prepare for the case? (100-200 words)
The main thing that would have helped me prepare more for this case competition would have been time. I felt as if we were given a lot of information and instruction and not a lot of time. It took a whole meeting for our group to interpret what we were supposed to do. It would have been nice if in class we would have dedicated a whole day to an Eli Lilly representative describing the case to us. It can take a lot of time to understand the problem and market being discussed. One other thing that would have helped my group prepare would have been in class speech preparation. Although I felt we did good, presenting to the class or even the instructor individually would have worked some of my group’s kinks out.
