I feared negative evaluation, social gatherings and was my own worst nightmare—in a perpetual battle for my peace of mind. “Why am I this way?” I thought; I could not figure it out, but I knew there was more to life than social anxiety. Walking in fear every day, feeling under the spotlight, there had to be a way out. Not being able to function in society, my self-worth shrunk, but what hurt me the most was not being able to express myself. After being afflicted for years, and overcoming my social anxiety through inner and outer work, I thought to myself no one should have to suffer like this. Hence, mastering my anxiety compelled me to become a psychiatric mental-health nurse practitioner to help others dealing with anxiety as well as other psychiatric disorders.

Consequently, his words influenced me to pursue a DNP and not stop at a master's degree. Delivering leading care to my patients through the use of evidence-based treatments and using my insight to impact underserved populations here in the US and abroad, an advanced-practice nursing degree at the DNP level will allow me to move into a leadership role in nursing. With my new expertise, I will reform healthcare in underprivileged communities in the US and overseas by investigating answers to problems in these locations and by creating methods to put in place such solutions to produce better health outcomes for those in need.

In the end, what I hope to gain from this program is creative destruction. Taking in invaluable wisdom along the way, I hope to learn new ideas and challenge my old ones. But, above all, I hope to leave this program different from what I am today and with new levels of self-efficacy and
