This interview was conducted at DL Design, located in Vancouver, Washington with Jamie Samoiloff, an accountant. DL Design is a civil engineering company that has several well-known customers. I decided to interview her as I have worked as a data entry worker before for an accountant and found the work fairly interesting. Jamie is a hardworking, passionate employee that is also an amazing role model. She is not only dedicated to her job but to her family as well. Jamie is great at prioritizing and getting things done, even at the expense of her own health. Any company would be lucky to have such an astounding worker at their business. Jamie has been employed at DL Design since 2008. She is a trusted and loyal employee that the company appreciates …show more content…
Since she is a loyal employee, her bosses allow her to work with her personal schedule. Another reason that Jamie loves her job is that she feels productive and important there. She has other clients, though Jamie doesn’t like doing the work for those clients as much as the work done for DL Design. Jamie also feels incredibly appreciated by the company. Her fellow employees and bosses consistently treat her like she is an equal and take her opinion into consideration over many important decisions. As for the work itself, Jamie said that the satisfying feeling of having everything balanced and in place was enough to keep her loving her job. In fact, Jamie loves her job so much that the only thing she doesn’t like about her job is the fact that she can’t be there more due to her busy personal schedule.
Jamie originally started out on her journey of becoming an accountant by helping her partner out with their business. Eventually, the need for an accountant came up to keep the business’s finances in order. Jamie started to educate herself more about book keeping, later leading her more into accounting. She enjoyed the work so she continued with it. As Jamie gained more clients, she loved her job more and became more skilled with her

Application Project Max Weber built his theory of social stratification on Georg Simmel’s theory of money and Karl Marx’s theory of capitalism. As he watched capitalism change in the late 1800s and early 1900s, Weber formed the notion that many factors define a variety of social and economic positions, and an individual’s “life chances” – the level of access to resources such as food, shelter, health care, education and legal representation – is determined by separate continuums of wealth, power and prestige. In Weber’s approach, social class is determined by education, the head of the family’s occupation, and the family’s income (Kendall, 2014). Two interviews were conducted to determine each individual’s social class and how their levels of wealth, power and prestige have affected their life chances.…
