I attended a meeting with the Latino Medical student Association on the topic of DACA and how it can affect medical school hopefuls. My friend who is a member of the organization informed me about the meeting and with what was going on in the news regarding the future of DACA and its recipients I thought it would be important to go. l learned that they are very big on community and connecting their members with different opportunities as well as fostering a comfortable environment that allows their members to freely speak about important topics.

I thoroughly enjoyed hearing about the experiences of students from different backgrounds that were all Dreamers. I'd be lying if I said I didn't get emotional hearing about the many times medical
