In operations it is very busy, fast-paced, and longer hours than normal for a salaried team member or hourly team member. During the initial startup the operation faced multiple IT challenges with the WMS that was implemented. The team was struggling to ship two thousand lines for a full shift.
I took the initiative to receive training in all facets of the operation including trouble-shooting some IT issues in order to be able to assist the team and obtain some output. I was very aggressive in the current role of a Team Leader and striving to someday become a Supervisor. My aggressiveness, knowledge and leadership were noticed not just inside the distribution center but with IT, hierarchy, and the entire business unit.
I continued to lead the team and became the contact person for issues and Q/A sessions, conference calls, assigned to conduct tours for the facility, and identified for the outbound department. …show more content…
Everyone including myself was anticipating who would become the supervisor. I received an email to report the human resources department and the Operations Manager, Human Resources Manager, and the DC leader were all waiting for me. Immediately I was told that my leadership has been nothing short of outstanding and how they appreciated the initiative that has been exemplified as the team is struggling for production.
They offered me the Interim Supervisor position until the job was posted and the interview process was completed. The team applauded once the announcement was communicated to the team. When the job posting was posted I applied along with several others and unanimously I was selected by a panel of interviewers to become the Operations Supervisor for the outbound department! That has been the biggest highlight of my career thus
