When I think of UC Davis as a place, I feel that UC Davis is a relaxing and slow. I lived in the Silicon Valley before coming to UC Davis. I felt that everyone around me were chased by time. Also, getting surrounded by the tall buildings and famous landmarks, I felt that I was being rushed by following the trend. However, after staying in UC Davis about a week, I felt that the time flows slower than where I came from when I saw people resting in the tree shadow and playing sports. Not only that, but also being near the farms and open spaces helped me to relax and get less stress from being rushed.

UC Davis is a place to relax and reduce stress from both social life and academic works. Being in the city of Davis helped me to focus better on

I was saddened when my husband’s job took us further south, but if we were to go back, we would choose another area; one that was simply a little quieter. If you are relocating to San Luis Obispo, CA and you prefer quiet, consider an area away from the college. One of my favorite things about living in San Luis Obispo was the fact that it was a busy city, but you felt your family was safe.…

On October 6th, 2016, I had the pleasure of hearing from one of the most unapologetic and influential woman in African American history. She spoke with so much passion and delicacy that the audience stayed engaged. Davis did not only share her story, but also provided this generation with advice and information that will remember for a lifetime. Through being in awe that I was in the same room as Angela Davis, I managed to jot down some notes about her story and additional information about the Black Lives Matter group.…

The University of Southern California is a top notch facility with premier applicants from every corner of the world, each with something that is essential to understanding them. As for myself, I feel as if my story would not be complete without telling the tale of my rural upbringing. Coming from a modest town of 2,144 residents in northwest Indiana, my day to day experiences have been a lot different than those I would encounter in Los Angeles, California. While going from being surrounded by people who ride their donkeys to school to being surrounded by people who ride their long boards to school would be quite a culture shock, it is exactly the type of adjustment I need to transition into my adult life. Although the environment I grew…

Although I had many amazing experiences at Russell Byers, the majority of my years were pretty grim. From 5k to 6th grade, I was bullied for my appearance, even after graduating I found myself crying because I was never able to defend myself. When I was accepted into Mastery, the first thing I did was change myself. I ask my mom if I could get my hair straightened and I shaved the hair off my body in hope that people would be more welcoming to me. While I sat in class, I would feel nauseous from the cold air hitting my skin and as a result I kept myself covered even during the summer.…

I always admire Confucius’ enlightening ideas and his methods of education, especially for “teaching students according to their aptitude.” I think it’s the best way for a teacher to fully inspire his students and fulfill their potential because every one is regarded as an individual with distinct learning style. From the seminar-conference courses to the donning system, I could feel that Sarah Lawrence College indeed respects its students and cares about them since all of them are given equal opportunities to ask questions or express their own thoughts to their faculties personally. For me, I’ve been looking for this kind of academically close attention so that my voice could be heard and echoed. I know only liberal arts colleges may provide me with this mutual education.…
