It is the Winter of 1777 at Valley Forge American Soldier camp. Would you have quit? I would quit there is bad conditions, it's cold, and there's sickness. I would quit or not re-enlist because there is a disease going around! Many of us are hungry and very cold. We are 18 mile North of Philadelphia and it is freezing. Many are not even in a condition to fight! Sadly many are sick and wounded.
The conditions are horrible there is smoke everywhere! “Skin and eyes are spoiled with smoke.”(Doc C) The smoke is so heavy you have to open a window but then it gets too cold! Some have no shoes, some people's feet are turning colors. Many men need more clothing and blankets, but there are not enough for everyone.(Doc b) In (Doc B)There are a horse dead and men that look very cold and not enough clothing.
There are many men sick and dying. Some of the men are freezing to death and are very cold. There are lots of sick and wounded people over 1800 to 2500 have died of illness.The total amount of soldiers at Valley Forge are (In Febuary) 8000 to 12000(In December). The total amount of Illness(December) 2898 to (February)3989.There is Smallpox going around and they are trying this new thing called inoculation. Why would I re-enlist when there are extremely bad conditions, it's cold and there's lots of people who have sadly lost their lives.Why would you need to know why a soldier would quit or not?
