Question: How did improvements in transportation affect individuals and/or nations during the 19th century?
Answer: With the advanced and improved innovations of transportation, this established faster and more trade routes. The invention of the steam engine, paved roads, and locomotives allowed people to transfer goods in a short period of time. This also kept certain goods from spoiling faster. The traders went through the paved routes, making it easier to get to their designated location faster.

As productivity advanced, the demand for more workers and hours drastically increased. The amount of people entering the workforce actually caused a nationwide shift in population from rural to urban areas. The expansion of business and factories lead to the innovation of buses in order to transport the large sums of people to get to work. With the elongated tiring hours and horrible working conditions lead to more people getting injured, that lead to hospitals to take care of the sick and hurt people. When the working class increased, people buzzed with activity and were able to provide for their families, improving the daily life of a man and a woman. Large factories provided more jobs for people, but added more to the environmental crisis. The smoke that the factories exhaled polluted the air and the waste would be dumped in rivers. Despite the environmental issues, political corruption was a cost of the job increase. The amount of money that was generated by the revolution created a clash between the rich, as they could buy any politician or process of elections. When the jobs were created, the rules were limited to how much a person was paid and what kind of training they would receive. Women and children usually worked as well, and if someone passed away, no one would care too much. This exploitation created problems among …show more content…
On the other hand, imperialism is a policy used to extend a country’s power using military force, usually ruled by an emperor. Based on Darwin’s ‘survival of the fittest’ idea, this helped people intensify their feeling of nationalism, as everyone felt they were the fittest. They proved this belief by waging in war, wanting to rule the human world. Numerous people believed that war was beneficial for a country.
