According to Rangel Press Release which explains a legislation that was reintroduced which requires all women to register for the Selective Service, Rangel states that, “If we must go to war, every American should be compelled to stop and think twice about whether it is worth sending our brothers and sisters, and sons and daughters to fight. Where is the free will in all of this? By doing mandatory drafting it will always greatly affect the next generation as well. We don’t want the United States to be all-military based where every single man and woman have to fight and have to risk their lives. It seems so unfair for many people could be at a disadvantage mentally or physically. These are some of the reasons why there should be mandatory service. It is financially unstable, cannot be justified as a moral situations to put civilian in, and it could possibly make the army worse because of some of the untrained and unskilled soldier’s. It should be about the quality of soldier’s not the quantity. That is why I am again this idea of mandatory national service and I hope that this puts these ideas into perspective. In conclusion, more experienced fighters should be fighting not kids who have just gotten into or out of college who have no experience, even if there is a national emergency, there are plenty of willing soldier’s to fighter. If they are willing and consent then they can participate in the national service. I see no reason to draft innocent people who aren’t ready to experience the brutal truth that is
