In multiple sources it shows or says that both sides had weapons in this event. In the source titled Boston Massacre, March 5, 1770 by John Bufford it depicts the colonist fighting back which gave the event more a battle scene. In source 3 Account of the Boston Massacre which was created by a son of liberty group member and 4 Case of Capt. Thomas Preston, a well known British soldier, both explain that the colonist were throwing snowballs at the British soldiers. Throwing the snowballs is tempting the soldiers to enforce rule and made the colonist seem less innocent. Also, document 4 goes into more detail on how the colonist were insulting the british officers. It explains that the colonist called “why don't you fire?”.
