There have been many airplane hijackings in the U.S. since the commercial airline was invented, but one soars above the others in infamy and impossibility. This hijacker has been a mystery for decades now and many theories have appeared as to who this man is. Many have wondered about is this mystery man that has escaped the world for so many years. There is no proof of his true identity, but he is known as D.B. Cooper. The criminal known as “D.B. Cooper” has sparked many theories as to both his identity and his ultimate success as a hijacker.
In the year 1971 flight # 305 flew from Portland to Seattle as a man going by the name of Dan Cooper ordered a whiskey and handed the stewardess a note in capital letters: “I HAVE A BOMB IN MY BRIEFCASE.

When she was just eight, her uncle left the day before the hijacking on a turkey hunting trip. The next day, he returned injured and bloody telling the family they were now rich. The family danced and celebrated. His name is Lynn Doyle Cooper, and their nickname for him was L.D. Cooper. His favorite comic book hero was Dan Cooper which is a possible origin of his alias. She never saw her uncle again but her father commented on his missing brother “Don't you remember he hijacked that aeroplane?” while on his deathbed. She was later informed L.D. died in 1999. When hearing this, the FBI tested one of Lynn’s guitar straps against the necktie that D.B. had left many years before.(“DBChijacking”).
Even if this suspect was not a “big break” like L.D., he is still worth mentioning. But not for himself, but for his brother, who reported to the FBI that his brother, Kenny, was D.B. Cooper. Lyle Christiansen was watching a show on the D.B. hijacking in his Minnesota home when it dawned on him that Kenny was D.B. Cooper.
