Days In Genesis

Question 1: How long are the days in Genesis 1? Why?
Mom: I think that the days in Genesis 1 are normal, literal, 24-hour days. The entire rest of the Bible would not really make sense if they were anything other than 24-hour days. For example, the Bible mentions that on the seventh day, God rested from his creation. If, as some suppose, the days represent periods of thousands or millions of years, this would mean that God very well may still be resting. This would support a Deist worldview that God created the world and then abandoned His creation and is now idle. Of course, as we have seen God work throughout the Bible and history, we know this is not true. Besides, the God we serve said that He would never leave us or forsake us, which is

Records of written history coincide with this time frame as well along with Scripture. However, concerning the chronologies given throughout the Bible, the Hebrew word “father” can also be translated as “ancestor of,” so I not sure if each one of them had a direct father-son relationship. Of course, it is apparent that most of them probably did. In general, when you consider the first great civilizations in Sumer and Egypt, they only date back to about five thousand years ago. The earth is relatively young.
Brandon Roberts (friend): Again, I’m not certain, but I think it could easily be millions of years old. Recent fossil discoveries seem to verify this, and even when you consider geological discoveries such as petroleum, you must imagine how much time it must have taken for fossils to disintegrate into that natural resource. Millions of years also allows for the creative-evolutionary process God used to go into full fruition and create the vast variety of life we see here on earth today.
Question 3: Did man and apes share a common ancestor? Why or why

If this were the case, one would believe that archaeological evidence would back this and that body parts would be nearly interchangeable. However, as your mom just said, there are no “transitional species” to be found in the archaeological record between man and apes, unless you count the Java man hoax. Anatomically speaking, man’s heart (as in our cardiac muscle) is more similar to pigs that apes; one would not think this would be the case if we were so closely related. I believe God created all animals in their current form and allowed for natural deviations to account for the slight differences within kinds. Genesis says that God made everything after its kind, and science supports

Humans have been able to say goodbye to their fur and walk upright to help them venture into deeper water while also being able to grab high fruit on trees on the land. The changing environment for humans and the evolution of them shows that only the best traits will be passed on, such as being able to stand on two feet and having downward-facing nostrils. Monkeys have not evolved, while humans have because the environment of monkeys made it unnecessary to add any extra features that were not already present. They are able to gloriously swing from branch to branch and get any type of fruit that their heart desires. These two populations started off identical a long time ago, but have since separated into two extremely different species.…

Both of these species are members of the Hominoid family. Although some people may find it difficult to accept, Apes have been said to be the ancestors of humans (O’Neil 2012). The apes and human are different from any other primate because they do not have tails. But the African apes and humans have essentially the same arrangement of internal organs, and share the same bones (O’Neil, 2012). They also have hands with thumbs that are sufficiently separate from the other fingers to allow them to be opposable for precision grips.…

Human Evolution For many years people have wondered how the human evolution started and why are we different from other species. Science brings us to new knowledge of how humans evolved in this world and the transition of apes to humans. The Human family tree starts from the Ardipithecus groups about 6 million years ago, the next one is Australopithecus group is about 4 million ago, the third one is paratroops group is about 3 million years ago and the last one is the homo groups is about 1 million years ago. Ardipithecus kaddaba was discovered in Ethiopia in 1997 by a paleoanthropologist Yohannes Haile-Selassie and was dated to 5.8 million years old. Ardipithecus group is similar to modern day chimpanzees because of the bones and facial structure.…

In the Did Humans Come from Monkeys chapter, I learned that humans did not evolve from monkeys, but instead humans and monkeys both evolved from a common ancestor. The evolutionary chain that will lead to humans started with Ancestral old world Monkeys then split off into today’s old world monkeys and the chimpanzee and human evolutionary line. From the chimpanzee and human line it broke off into today’s modern apes and our ancient ancestors.…

I furthermore believe that God formed the world, its life forms, and the rest of the universe in one continual act of creation. We share various physical traits with other primates, and can now turn to our genetic code to show just how similar we really are. When considering our entire genome, we have only a 4 to 5% distinction between humans and chimpanzees. DNA evidence, along with fossils, informs us that human lineage began in Africa and branched out over time. When considering evolution as a myth, the fact that our ancestry originated from the same place as other primates can’t just be a coincidence. Along with our genetic similarities and identical ancestry origin, we have anatomical similarities that range from opposable thumbs to bone structure.…

    Human Evolution From Apes

To simply answer the question I would have to say no there is no real scientific evidence to support the claim that humans evolved from apes. I will explain the reasons to why it is not true. When the idea that humans evolved from apes was first conceived there was hope for discovering the links of this human evolution. However hundreds of years later all that has been discovered are extinct species of apes that resemble humans almost as much as apes found in the wild today.…

According to Richard Dawkins, humans and chimpanzees share a common ancestor that appeared about 6 million of years ago. The fact of having a common ancestor with chimpanzees does not mean that humans are descended from these animals. Researchers have affirmed that between all the animals that constitute the apes, humans are more closely related to chimpanzee because of anatomy and genetic comparisons. The human species evolved gradually, and chimpanzees and/or apes did not. Humans and apes are two different species, and it is difficult to comprehend that the chimpanzees and us, only share an ancestor that produced two distinct lineages, hominids, or human-like species, and the great ape species.…
