This past weekend I had the incredible opportunity to assist in a girls leadership program called Wavus Girls Lead. Wavus Girls Lead is a four month long program that allows 7th and 8th grade girls to develop their leadership skills in order to effectively avoid and resolve conflicts and difficult circumstances that they may face in their daily lives. This weekend, we focused on how to effectively communicate, how the media portrays women and girls, how to safely challenge ourselves, and how we might handle ourselves when conflict arises in a community. We started off the weekend by teaching the girls an acronym for effective communication: LEADSTAR.…

Beauty matters. Well, at least for some. From the clothes you choose to wear (and the ones you don’t) to the items you own, everything surrounding you changes how people perceive you, even things completely out of someone’s control. Pressures to adhere to societal norms can cause long-term harm for certain people, but others can take this concept in stride. Due to different upbringings, along with different environmental influences, it allows for a range of perspectives.…

With no funding for those girls, 58% showed a decrease in student performance (Tegegne and Sisay). With common sense, when students attend school they gain knowledge and broaden their intelligence capability. Tampons and pads would have improved those girls’ lives physically and mentally.…

As I described the actual incident in detail, a young man who was down, let depression set in and he started drinking loss all hope took his eyes off of Christ and put it on his situation. I know that God loves him just as he loves me, I need to do all I can to counsel him. There were some difficult challenge and I am determined to work hard with this situation professionally, because there are some examples of human behavior that can cause you to lose faith in Christ.
