2. Why did you take on the role of a director? I decided to become a director because the pay was more. I stayed a director because I enjoyed learning about all the children, working more with all the families, and ensuring that all the children are learning and growing. I also believe that early childhood is the time when children form their opinions about school and education and I like knowing that I helped make the experience more positive for all the children coming into the center.
3. How is your position here different from owning a daycare center? I have a built in support system with the company’s different departments, like education, legal, financial, and human resources. If something breaks I call them and they send someone to fix it. There is a lot less financial stress on a day-to-day basis.

What legal issues do you have to be concerned about or have you been faced with while director of this center? We have had little legal issues here at the center and the company has a legal department that takes care of all other legal aspects of running a daycare center. We had one incident with accusations against staff, but nothing came of it.
10. What ethical issues have you been faced with or that you have to be aware of while being director? The only ethical issue that has come up has been with theft and student observers. A staff member was caught steal and she was dismissed immediately. The student that was observing wanted me to sign her hours before she had completed them because she had to turn in the assignment, and I refused. You have to do the work first. This is also why I do not allow my teachers to sign these sheets, they have to come through
