Sir Isaac Newton was an English mathematician, cosmologist, scholar and physicist (depicted in his own day as a "characteristic savant") who is generally perceived as a standout amongst the most powerful researchers ever and a key figure in the logical upheaval. His book Philosophiæ Naturalis Principia Mathematica ("Mathematical Principles of Natural Philosophy"), first distributed in 1687, established the frameworks of traditional mechanics.
