For this assignment I chose to analyze how youtube commercials chose to advertise three different bluetooth speakers that are the most popular on the market right now. The three speakers I chose were the Amazon Echo, UE Boom, and Beats Pill.
Amazon Echo - This ad is starring Alec Baldwin and Jason Schwartzman and is called “Day After” commercial. The setting is in Alec Baldwin’s bedroom. Alec is laying in bed looking like he had a rough night with crazy hair, an unbutton dress shirt and a pair of crazy boxers. Alec get s a phone call from Jason in jail asking him if he was okay and Alec calls for Alexa (which is what the bluetooth speaker goes by) and asks her whats in the news. She replies with Alec Baldwin and Jason Schwartzman were seen

It is dark and there are sirens and a group of kids cutting the chains that are keeping a door locked to get inside. The teenage kids are running through a tunnel with flash lights and as soon as they turn the corner the lights come on and they start the music and and the teenagers arrive at the party where everyone is using there UE Boom speaker. The target audience is definitely teenagers, I would have to say age 16 - 20. How I can tell because of the party scene is all young kids who look like they are in high school or college. The persuasive strategy that this ad chose to take was Pathos because they want the viewers to buy this product and feel included because it is the new in gadget that all the young kids are using. They are trying to persuade people by emotion. This ads cultural meaning is trying to sell tradition of young kids. It is putting off the stereotype that all young kids are party animals, which isn 't always the case. This ad was pretty persuasive because if I were younger and saw this ad I would want to buy the new in product to fit in with the rest of the …show more content…
Dre - In this ad Beats chose to use Nicki Minaj as the main character. The setting is in Nicki’s dressing room and she is about to walk out and there is a guy in there and she says if you wanna play your own music just tap my pill and as she walks out the guy says okay right after I text back another girl. As soon as he says that the pill comes to life and starts yelling at him saying you cant be texting other girls and starts ratting him out yelling for Nicki and the guy says keep it down and the pill says I cant keep it down I am a speaker you dummy. The target audience for this speaker would have to be music lovers because they have Nicki Minaj starring in the ad which is meant to attract her fans. The persuasive strategy that they chose to use was Ethos because they want the viewers to buy this product based on the credibility of Nicki Minaj. The cultural meaning that this ad is displaying is the power of friendship. It shows that the pill is always going to have your back and you can always count on

At the very beginning of this ad the music automatically sets an easy, comforting feeling. Every scene in this commercial has an emotional affect, but there are a few that significantly seem to impact the onlooker. For example, it is assumed that most families can easily relate to the scene of the couple coming home with the little girls asleep in their arms. In a different picture, a little girl runs into her father’s embrace who seems to be coming home. Later in the commercial another young girl is shown with her father reading her a storybook.…

This is a primary example of sex in today’s advertisement. Unlike other subtle advertising that require the works of our imagination, this advertising jumps straight to the point. These ads purposely get you to think of two things: sex and their products. Our brains have been hard-wired for billions of years to transform everything into sex. The marketers use this fact to target their customers.…

My rhetorical analysis was on a campaign advertisement focused on helping less fortunate kids use the power of sports to live a better life. The ad was put out by Laureus Sports for Good Foundation, and they spend all year supporting this project and many other family related campaigns. Laureus has expended to all seven continents and has established themselves in major and minor countries working to help individuals surpass their life obstacles and bring social positivity. They do this by using sports to keep kids out of the streets and in the fields enjoying themselves instead of getting into trouble and being in a negative environment. Sports have been a foundation of good values and life lessons to kids all over the world, such as hard work, teamwork, respect for others and so forth.…

In the t.v. genre, commercials are created with the intended purpose of grabbing the audience’s attention and drawing focus to the product being advertised. Commercials can attract a person’s attention with a plethora of devices such as a catchy jingle, flashy pictures, and an upbeat intro with a memorable slogan ( i.e. “Shamwow!”). In Wells Fargo’s “Learning Sign Language” a lesbian couple is seen practicing sign-language, incorporating into their daily routines. The commercial wraps up with the couple being introduced to a young girl for the first time, and it turns out the young girl is being adopted by the women and she is deaf, validating why the moms-to-be were shown learning ASL.…

The type of music they use is very upbeat, makes you want to dance and be happy. The music was probably the biggest pathos in this ad. But another would be happiness. Bringing two girls together and making them friends at the end while they dance, is going to bring someone happiness. Even if a person does not smile, it is subconscious in the back of that person’s head.…

It also highly employs Ethos because this ad features a very famous celebrity who is Taylor Swift. Swift is a singer, actress, reordered producer, and also a styles’ idol for many teenage girls. With the ad having Taylor Swift it encourages females to buy Keds because since she is a stylist idol for many the people who purchase them will feel like they are in style since she is a stylist. What this ad really anchors on to get readers attention is the use of pathos, emotional appeal. Almost any time a baby is used in an advertisement, it is in an effort to stir emotion. This ad uses the baby as a tool to grab the reader’s attention and gives something which mothers can relate with. The use of a baby to deliver the message also serves to give the ad some credibility, which is an example of ethos. Babies are seen as innocent and honest, so if a baby is saying something it must be true and commonly known.…

There are no words used in the advertisement. The song playing throughout the commercial is either not in English or not words. The song is fast paced and loud, just like the surrounding city that the two women are walking through. The song has a pop/electronic feel, which is popular among young women. It almost sounds similar to a song that would be played at a runway show, which directly correlates with self-image.…
