The company I chose to write about is David’s Bridal. David’s Bridal has been making wedding dreams come true for over 60 years (David’s Bridal, 2016). David’s Bridal has over 100,000 or more followers on all of their social media platforms, except for Facebook where they have over 1 million likes. I chose to discuss David’s Bridal because it operates on multiple social media platforms including, Facebook, Pinterest, Instagram and Twitter. Not only do they utilize multiple social media sites, they do it well. First I’d like to discuss the multi-platform strategy. Publishers can devise their content strategies to better align with the audiences who are more likely to consume content on various channels (Dreyer, 2013). For example, 18 to 24 year olds can be reached via social media, mostly through smartphone applications. This being said, David’s Bridal uses Instagram to promote specific dresses. It is used more like an online-catalog than anything else. This allows female viewers to see dresses with ease, compared to using their website, which might not be mobile friendly. If someone finds the dress they love there is a link that says, “ Shop our Instagram feed,” which is where you can directly go and buy the dress you …show more content…
The posts on Facebook tend to be more in-depth and the Tweets are simple and short, however this is because there is a maximum character length which limits information they can post. David’s Bridal does use Twitter well by posting eye-catching photos, links and hashtags. They use links for shopping, news articles and wedding ideas. They also use many hashtags. The most common hashtag is #DavidsBridal. If brides or brides to-be use the hashtag on Twitter or Instagram David’s Bridal will either retweet the photo or post it on the David’s Bridal Facebook page or Pinterest board.
