Thoreau says, we are not just a part of nature but also nature itself. We have been loving and living with each other, i.e. the other members of nature with peace and harmony. The nature is dynamic and so are we. We keep on developing ourselves and the ones connected to us and on that process, we have come a long way in the process of evolution: from early nomadic stone age to the age of science and technology. During that development, we have let ourselves to exploit the best resource available and get better as soon as possible. Or I would not be wrong if I say, we have been over-exploiting the resources. However, otherwise, we would not have come to this era so fast. Saying that the profit orientated development has made us more self-centered and selfish. We are being so apathetic. According to Edward, he believes “wilderness is a necessary part of civilization and that is the primary responsibility of the national park system is to preserve intact and undiminished what little still remains.” I agree with him that wilderness is also the part of our civilization; however, I believe national parks are not just to preserve what little remains but also to preserve and protect something that is naturally important and needs special protection. But in reality, National Parks are also created for the money. “The national parks were created for and by tourism and them what interest tourists.” This is the bitter truth that people want money everywhere. As Edward said, industrial tourism is a threat to national parks, they are destroying the national park day by day. People have paved the road into the heart of the national park.
