He recalls a circumstance where he was on a trip with a team from his church, partnering with a clinic to providing medical relief to patients. Two members from their group were accidentally stuck with a needle that had been used to treat an HIV patient. There response to the unfortunate mishap is amazing. They were joyful and thankful that it had happened to them and someone else. They were comforted by the thought that if God could use them in that clinic to reach the unreached then they were more than willing to gain a disease. David Platt takes a strong standpoint on what he thinks the church’s and an individual believer’s role is in taking the gospel to all nations. It’s easily identifiable to see where many people would think he takes an extremist point of view on how one should follow the Lord’s call on their life. Not every church goer is willing to sacrifice all they have to follow Jesus. Disregarding that, not everyone feels the need to go overseas. Many feel called to stay among the borders of the United States and do ministry here.
