There is an astounding amount of respect for Nussbaum in her field of work. She has used liberal thought to explore the societal structures, corruptible governments, and institutions. Education is entrenched in the work of solving global injustices.“The liberal’s dilemma is that she does not want to impose a notion of the good on citizens, thereby hampering their freedom, but at the same time does not want to facilitate an unguided freedom in which citizens are free to do anything, including attack the foundations of other citizens’ freedom.” (Pg 27) A general rule of thumb declares a valued member of society is a producer, this rejects those who take advantage of welfare programs and that we all be citizens of world by being treated fairly. Freethinking individuals want to unleash the crippling spirit of tyrannical rule and discover the hindrances in western liberal education. Nussbaum looks to further develop the free world and put an end to counterproductive education models that do not support the pursuit of freedom.
Nussbaum is a believer of distributive justice theory. This idea stems from her concern for global injustices and from being an advocate for those around the world who are discriminated against by their own overpowering governmental system. Education bears the fruit of knowledge that makes or breaks a society’s retention to adapt to emerging global injustices such as inadequate liberal educations. Nussbaum aspires to create an atmosphere where students become active freethinking citizens who does their part
