When if first started the speech I was not sure how to think. When McCullogh started his line saying “you are not special”, I was not happy. As a gut reaction I was very upset by the statement. If you believe that the speech actually has a positive meaning than you would be thinking like I am. I think the speech does really well as having a dynamic meaning. While it does not sound perfect and nice on the outside, there is much truth in his statements and positive messages to take out of them. Thinking about the story critically helped make sure that my mind was not swayed by opinion and helped look at the underlying messages of the speech. I overall thought the speech was well written and liked it. I do wish he would have emphasized more openly about the messages so that the message could not be misconstrued and made negative.
