Nurse for mission
As a young adult growing up, David Gates had a burden for souls. When he was considering what profession to adopt, he chose nursing in view of the doors it would open for future ministry. During a talk with his future wife, Becky, about this subject he expressed his feelings: 'If we both want to be missionaries, we need to take nursing. Wherever God calls us, nursing skills can help people' (Lantry, E. E. 2002). Instead of choosing nursing for the monetary value and job security that it offers many, David Gates chose it to better equip himself for ministry, setting an example for other Christian nurses. …show more content…
We are not what we might be, or what it is God s will that we should be. God has given us reasoning powers, not to remain inactive, or to be perverted to earthly and sordid pursuits, but that they may be developed to the utmost, refined, sanctified, enabled, and used in advancing the interests of His kingdom ' (White, E. G. 1905). She adds,
