When I first had a cell phone, I always saw people spelling things differently, using common and invented abbreviating. The reason I tried to copy them was to fit in and create texts like those I was reading or saw on people’s Facebook posts. Texting could help some children’s reading and writing ability. For example, there are certain children out there who don’t enjoy reading books. Those students might lack reading abilities simply because they just can’t find joy in reading. However, if they do find joy in texting with their friends and peers, then they are still using the English language and having to read and write responses to their
