XYZ is able to showcase successful design in a business context as they are able to understand the needs of the consumer and deliver accordingly. He is constantly communicating and working with people in the corporate world whom do not always understand how a designer works. Butler therefore uses simple language to ensure that his message is being communicated in a clear and concise manner, this allowing him to be understood throughout the different sectors of the business. Butler’s strategy ensures that the simplicity is not lost and that fundamental aspects are not left out. He uses a “fix the basics approach” which addresses basic yet fundamental issues that are often overlooked as they are perceived as “insignificant” yet can contribute to a huge downfall in the business environment when ignored. Butlers approach looks at identifying the flaws in the design process and addressing them immediately. An example being when David Butler was hired an told that “ we need to do more with design… go figure it out” he realized that although Coke was a worldwide company consisting of 450 brands, an infinite amount of retail partners there was a basic design flaw. The simplistic white background is contrasted with a bold red arrows, this informs the user on how the design operates and creates visual thread throughout the design.
