Later in 2013, Beckham revealed that he would like to form his own team within the MLS. He would become the first former Major League Soccer player to own a franchise in the league.

Beckham and his agent, Simon Fuller first expressed their interest to become potential owners of the Miami franchise back in December 2013. But Beckham was not the only person interested in the idea of a new team, another very successful business man was in the mix to try and acquire the team, not other than Stephen M. Ross, owner of the Miami Dolphins (professional American football team), another huge sports team in Miami.

When David Beckham first joined the MLS back in 2007, he was given the option to purchase a franchise for twenty-five million dollars as part of his contract with LA Galaxy, but the deal would only be allowed if finance could be agreed on for a new stadium for the Miami team. When the first stadium plans fell through, Don Garber, commissioner of the MLS, said that the team would not be approved until a stadium plan could be agreed

Let’s get something straight: Any ranking of the greatest black athletes ever that doesn’t include Tiger Woods is not something I can get behind. This list, the result of public responses to surveys conducted by SurveyMonkey for The Undefeated, could be called “50 Great Athletes People Admire Most” or “Americans’ 50 Favorite Black Athletes.” But it ain’t a credible list of the greatest if it doesn’t include Tiger. You can dislike Tiger and you can dislike golf, but if you fail to acknowledge his competitive brilliance, his dominance of the oldest sport on the planet, his impact culturally, athletically and economically, then you should recuse yourself from weighing in on an effort to rank the greatest black athletes. There’s no responsible…

We were told, jokingly of course, by our hilarious tour guides, that if you did not know the answer to something, Peyton Manning would always be correct. That kind of humor and good will made the visit memorable and made me look at University of Tennessee more seriously. Beyond the fun of the tour, I learned that the Global Leadership Scholars program would be a perfect match with my interest as a future business student.…
