In the case of David and Lana, Evan is treating Lana unfairly because she has been hired to perform a job that he wanted someone else to complete. Evan wanted his friend and longtime colleague David to fill a faculty position at Youngstown Community College. However, David was not qualified for the position so the university conducted interviews and hired Lana to fill the vacant position. The facts are outlined in the following statements. Evan Comstock wanted to move David in to faculty position at Youngtown Community College. Evan and David are friends. There have been instances of unfair treatment/favoritism which has made people feel uneasy at work. David does not meet the requirements of the position and placing him into the position would create extra work for everyone in the department. The position requires a master’s degree and David is currently working towards that degree. Evan changed the requirements of the position so David would be considered for it. Vice president Schilling found out about his unethical behavior resulting in the university posting the job for anyone to apply. Lana meet all the required criteria for the position and the university hired her. Evan did not support that decision. Lana blended well with the staff and the students seemed to like her. However, Evan was always harassing her and questioning her performance. He would come into her classes unannounced and ask inappropriate questions during her lecture. He would ask students who did not perform well in her classes to evaluate her performance. He would stop by her office unannounced and question why she was not there. He would send her emails criticizing her teaching, but would never want to talk with her about it. During tax season, Lana took a part-time job
