Guido d’Arezzo was an Italian Benedictine Monk born in France in the century year of 995. Guido was not a composer during this time, instead he was a musical therapist and teacher. Although he was not a composer, Guido made the discovery of a new form of music notation after moving to Italy where he also worked for Bishop Theobald, despite the fact that he was a music therapist and teacher ("GUIDO D'AREZZO"). With his new discovery, this method made it possible for composers to record their music on paper. Beforehand, singers and composers had to remember their own melodies and chants by memory, causing major differences within the music as they passed the music down generations ("GUIDO D'AREZZO").…
Music – Daniel Machado is writing the songs for the two musicals. I tapped him for this project because he’s particularly good at writing dense information-packed music in a way that’s easy for audiences to understand and enjoy. The tunes he tends to come up with are catchy, upbeat, and full of energy. However, the tunes almost always have the opposite effect when viewed from multiple angles over time. Since the story will unfold in layers, his approach is perfect for tackling the consent story line (The third story line most visible once the two stories are viewed together in the correct order).…
Few cities can claim the legacy of blues. There’s a generation of blues musicians that have brought their beautiful music to the Temecula Valley, attracted by the charm of the scene of a city domained by the wine culture, it seems like the pair goes very well hand in hand. The public is always eagered to hear vibrant guitar riffs and suspended harmonica chords. Missy Andersen at the Miramonte Winery on November 21st, 2015 was no exception. The large enclosed courtyard provided a festive ambiance for everyone to listen to fine blues, drinking magnificent wine and dancing.…
Every year at CMEA, we play set of three songs and there’s a specific pattern to the set. In the pattern of the set, the second song is usually a ballad. This year, our ballad for the set is Kindred Spirits, composed by Brian Balmages. Kindred Spirits was composed for the Browning family after Nicholas Browning had murdered his family on November 1st, 2008. His mother, father and two younger brothers, Gregory and Benjamin, were all shot by Nicholas and passed away.…
Music can be used to evoke underlying emotions and can help people to express themselves with ease. It fuels the mind and thus it fuels feelings. Music is universal in the sense that there are no boundaries to understand it. It transcends the frontiers of communication as people can speak and tell stories to others, even though they do not speak the same language. When listening to music, everyone can understand it and feel something if they open themselves up.…
The way music affects our everyday lives can be almost incomprehensible at times, but remember music is much more than dots on a page. It’s notes and rhythms written into a piece of work. Each one containing some kind of emotion that reaches a certain depth of our hearts and…
West Coast crooner Anderson .Paak has already made plenty of music, with three albums under his belt (2014′s Venice, along with two records as Breezy Lovejoy back in 2012) - however, Malibu feels like a debut album. And, in a way, it is, because this record is .Paak ’s introduction to a whole new audience. Since the release of Venice, which had one feature and production predominantly from Callum Connor’s LO_DEF project, .Paak has appeared on numerous West Coast hip hop records, including Dr. Dre’s Compton and The Game’s…
Growing up with an All-State trumpet player, my dad, I received an early education in music. Whether it was classical or rap, rhythm always flowed throughout my house. I have been a lover of many genres of music since the age of three. When given a chance to produce music myself, naturally I took it.…
80's Pop As most of you probably know already, I'm Madonna, a popular singer and actress. This is the 80's, a decade with a different type of music. How many of you listen to pop music? (Wait for audience's reaction)…
The song is cool and chill, and the instrumentation that Leadbelly uses is guitar. I also notice the call and response in this piece of music. For example he sang the line of “My girl, my girl, don’t you lie to me.. where did you sleep last night,” and then he followed by saying “Come on and tell me somebody.” I think Leadbelly should be recognize as an artist or musician in the society.…
A few main things that have influenced me would be family, music, and color guard. All three have played a huge part in my life in some way, shape, or form. Family… Why family? Family is the base of me, family is what helps get me through the day.…
For years I have listened to Spanish and Latin America music as it’s rhythms, beats, and tones place me into a state of happiness, and find myself daydreaming of foreign lands traveled stirring up good memories while, mind mapping a trip to Cuba in the near. Reviewing the syllabus as to prepare for this Spanish class, it was a relief to find the magic bullet number sixty nine seizing the desire or need to look any further. This last project coincidently, is my final class prior to graduation; I am left with mixed feelings of happiness and sadness much like the songs sung by the Buena Vista Social Club. Music dates as far back in time to sixty thousand years B.C. and was created or discovered by indigos tribes known as folk music. Music…
What is music? That is a question every musician asks themselves. For victor Wooten, music is like a language that connects out to people. The world has two things that are universal in which are music and mathematics. There are barriers common things can’t break troughs but music can.…
Music helps people understand their own emotions and it allows them to feel related to. For example, after a break up many people are angry or upset so they turn to music to understand their own emotions. It…
One of my biggest influences was the religion that my parents taught me both inside and outside of the church building. As a child I went to Sunday School nearly every week, which helped me learn about being a caring person and about how to behave and act in the world, along with all the content taught in the classes. I also learned valuable characteristics through multiple extracurricular activities such as music lessons, school sports, and athletic hobbies. I learned characteristics like hard work and dedication, as well as having the opportunity to exercise my brain and help me develop intellectually. Finally, as I’ve mentioned earlier, my family has had a large influence in my education.…
