Dave Letter To Euthanasia

Decent Essays
Dear Senator: There's an issue that arises when terminally ill patients wants to die rather than go through long treatments that may or may not work. The solution is Voluntary Euthanasia, this allows people to be killed painlessly by a trained professional. I would like to propose a law that allows terminally ill patients to enter doctor assisted suicide. This will not only save terminally ill patients from long and painful treatments it will save hospitals money. Let's say dave has glaucoma, and he has to go through chemotherapy, which is expensive and hazardous to health. Thats a lot of time and money to Put one person into one person. I’m not saying that every terminally ill patient should be put to death, because it is up to the patient

Physician assisted suicide is the killing of a patient, who is terminally ill, by a doctor with the patient’s full consent. There is constant debate and controversy concerning this topic and whether or not it should be legal. Those analyzing the issue take a multitude of factors into consideration, including: the patients, families of the patients, and the doctors. Terminal illnesses have existed for years and until recently, patients have had to suffer through it all. With this, physician assisted suicide could possibly be a helpful alternative.…

Outline for Arguments on PAS and Euthanasia When addressing the matter of Euthanasia and PAS, “we must first acknowledge that figuring out the benefits and harms of permitting euthanasia or PAS is speculative at best” (Emanuel). As well, it is important to acknowledge the fact that, “no matter which social policy regarding euthanasia or PAS is adopted - legalization or maintaining the current policy of permitting them in individual cases - there will be both benefits and harms” (Emanuel). In this argument, it will be shown that legalizing Euthanasia and PAS within the United States, will help people, by allowing terminally ill patients to realize the end of a good death or, more accurately, a create a higher quality dying experience for them.…

Supporters of physician assisted suicide believe that it should be legalized for a variety of reasons. “Terminally ill adults with six months or less to live should be allowed to receive a prescription for life-ending medication (Election 2012, Northridge).” Those who are terminal patients (or who are going to die soon) should not go through excruciating suffering, and should be allowed to end it. Legalizing physician-assisted suicide would allow patients to receive their own dignity during their final days of life. According to its supporters, physician assisted suicide allows for the “Pain and anguish of the patient's family and friends (to be) lessened, and they can say their final goodbyes (Election 2012, Northridge).”…

Physician-Assisted Suicide (PAS) is one of the most controversial ethical issues in our society today. Many have speculated about the benefits or dangers of physician assisted suicide. But whether it should be legally approved is a questions with no easy answer. In PAS medical help is provided to enable patients to perform an act that is specifically intended to take his or her own life, for example, overdosing on pills prescribed by the physician for that purpose. PAS should be distinguished from euthanasia, in which it involves the physician performing an act that is specifically intended to end a patient’s life, through for example, lethal injection.…

For patients with an incurable and deadly disease or illness, asking them to stay in hospice care; therefore prolonging their pain and not allowing them to choose when they want to be done with the pain is something that must be stopped. Making physician assisted suicide legal, would allow for the patients whose palliative care options have run out, to have one final option of either escaping the pain by choosing physician assisted suicide or waiting for nature to run its course while in hospice care. For these reasons, physician assisted suicide must become…

310] This act was barred with an injunction in August of 1995 but begs the question, what would it be like if physician-assisted suicide was legal? [Lee, M., Nelson, H., Tilden, V., Ganzini, L., Schmidt, T., & Tolle, S., 1996] The aforementioned law would allow the prescription of a lethal dose of a medication upon request by a terminally ill patient. The law defines terminally ill as someone whom is expected to live less than six months, states that the person must be deemed competent, and also states that the person must be an Oregon resident. Another requirement of this law is that the diagnosis must be reaffirmed by a second physician, as well as the competency of the patient, and to make sure the two oral and one written requests for euthanasia are all voluntary.…

Physician assisted suicide proposes that terminally ill patients have the right to end their suffering with a quick, painless death. Assisted suicide has been an ongoing debate for hundreds of years and will continue for many more years to come, but over the years assisted suicide has become more and more popular. It is still only legal in five out of the fifty states in the United States, many states have proposed the topic but it has been shot down multiple times (ProCon). Although, assisted suicide has its problem it should be legal to give people the right to die, grant patients with treatment they want, and provide more time for doctors to care for other people.…
