Dauphin Island Research Paper

Dauphin Island, Alabama is an isolated place. After leaving the mainland and a mile long bridge, you enter a home feeling place. It’s a very different feeling than ever felt before. There is only some grass, but as you go to the light and turn right, the yards are full of warm, golden sand. The houses on this beautiful island are on 40 foot stilts; they vary in colors from orange to bright purple, to a dull blue. These houses are not normal bland colors. The sun shines even when it’s raining. When it’s clear and sunny outside, it’s as if the island comes to life. People bring their bicycles, or if you’re in my family dirt bikes and motorcycles, and they just ride along together on the bike paths or roads.

It’s the littlest shack I’ve seen before. It can’t be more than six by eight feet. If you’ve ever been to a Cold Stone ice cream shop, it’s similar to that. The only difference is its made on a giant slab of ice, they pour milk on the slab and put what flavor you want in it, then they scrap the milk, which is somewhat frozen at this point, into a ball form, chop it up and flip it like an egg, then as the other side is freezing they put candy and fruit in the middle, mix it up, and put in in a cup for you. It has to be the greatest ice cream ever made. There is a barbeque house right next to the ice cream shop. There’s a giant statue pig in front of the building and it has a shirt on. Because it has a shirt on I made my dad go in. We walk up to the entrance and go through these thick pieces of plastic that count as doors, then there was a chicken running around that the owned used as a guard dog. If you’re feeling courageous enough, you can rent jet skis, I personally cannot get myself to get on one. I’m scared I’m going to fall and get eaten by sharks, very unlikely. But my dad says it’s really fun and I guess it’s agreeable without trying
