I have never been a particularly social person, but I do have a handful of good friends that I love dearly. We always had a good time, and they kept me sane through high school and the first few years of college. I'm not good at meeting people by myself, but with my circle of friends I was never alone. And so you can imagine I had problems when I moved to a new town where I knew no one. I'd had good enough dating experiences back home. Friends would set me up, or I'd talk to a guy from the orchestra, or run into someone's brother and hit it off. In a new town though? It was much more difficult. I had no connections here, and decided to take the plunge and try online dating. I signed up for one of the more popular free sites. I had only been …show more content…
We all go through bad relationships and usually end up going through the same bad relationship more than once but with different people, because we tend to date a certain "type" of individual. We all have a "type" even though we may not admit it, and that may be the reason why a lot of us end up in dead end relationships. That's not the point of this not but it is important to the overall message. The approach of man tells you a lot about his character and his personality. Since we lean towards a certain type of individual there is a personality type that seems to grab and hold our attention. This is a good and a bad thing because there are good and bad people that share similar personality traits. The difference comes in the approach. Depending on a person's true intention and/or character, they will approach you a certain way. If a person is really interested in getting to know you as a person, this means knowing your mind, body, and soul; they will make more of an effort to get to know you slowly and build a friendship before rushing into things. Over complementing, over confidence, and a lack of eye contact are always a signal of impure intentions. Eye Contact is especially key because, it is a method utilized by a single man to communicate to a woman that he is interested in her and vice versa. Many women have difficulty looking a man directly in the eyes, not necessarily due to the shyness, but because it shows how comfortable you are with the person that you are speaking with. A friendship is the best foundation for any relationship. Without a friendship a relationship has on glue. It has no reason to remain honest and true because there is no fear of losing a world that is already established in your own. Each friend represents a new world in us, a world that isn't given birth until they arrive, a unique world that

Hooking Up by Kathleen A. Bogle. is a sociological study of people before and after college about the sexual phenomenon of "hooking up". Hooking up is the way mostly younger generations meet people and instead of courting the other person they have sex and usually never talk again. The term "hooking up" can be linked back to the mid nineteen eighties (Bogle 2008). Hooking up is very prevalent on college campuses and that is where Bogle 's study takes place. If you’re single, you’re no longer alone. In fact, 44 percent of American adults are single, according to U.S. Census figures, which means there are over 100 million unattached folks out there. There are many reasons why so many people are single, from the changes in societal norms that say it is okay for women to stay unmarried longer to changes in technology, which could be causing people to drift further and further away from real connections. The bottom line is this: finding a mate in the world we live in can be a true challenge. When I was younger, I struggled to support any friendships for an extended period of time. Before I moved to GCMS School district, I had previously attended three separate schools for the same few reasons. My parents could not afford to live where we did, one or both lost their job, or the environment was not suitable for our family. Moving so often made it difficult to keep in contact with old friends, and even more difficult to make new ones. As I was shy and introverted, it was an intimidating and terrifying situation.…

    Deborah Tannen Analysis

It is amazing how accurate Tannen’s and Goleman’s observations are because socialization do shape our views and expectations, if it were different then there would not be a majority of people having the same common misunderstandings. Men feel the way they do because as Tannen mentions “they are on guard to protect themselves from being put down and pushed around” (444). The reason why it culminates into a common misunderstanding is because women want the opposite of “being on guard.” Women want men to express their emotions…

Dating Advice Assignment For this assignment, I choose an article about the “8 bad relationship habits you need to kick before getting married”. In this article, it was stating that these bad habits will ruin your relationship and will prompt you to not get married. It’s suggesting that the negative patterns are: expecting your partner to read your mind, trying to make your partner jealous, constantly asking if they love you, getting stuck in a boring routine, playing the blame game, checking your phone, threatening to leave, and grilling your partner where they were and with whom. In the article, it states that checking your phone constantly causes a disconnection between couples, so spend your time wisely with your partner.…

Friends: Organizations > Clubs If you've read my post on making friends, you know it all really comes down to three things: 1.) biology (finding the right culture), 2.) spending enough time with the people to gain their trust, and, finally, 3.) letting your guard down. And I've talked about, especially for the shy introvert when it comes to fulfilling these three requirements, focusing on your career, school, and club activities. But clubs should be are a very distant third option for introverts as you might not get enough "face time", or not let your guard down at all, to transition these people to friends.…

Appealing to the opposite sex in a memorable way could pose to be the most challenging, most mind-boggling thing to do for even the most charming of women, but how could this be? Perhaps, in their radiant disposition, they lack an understanding of the effectiveness of their use of touch. Nonverbal communication could arguably be the most important aspect when building the foundation of a new relationship. This analysis of the significance of touch and how it can stimulate desire in the opposite sex will explore the claims made in Seeley’s (2015) popular press article, and compare them to the findings of scholarly articles that focus on the use of nonverbal communication in romantic settings. It will debunk assumptions about the lack of…

The one thing that most everyone, at one time or another, looks for is love. In order for that to happen, one would have to go on an event that is called a first date. Everyone has this idea that being asked on a first date is the scariest part, but in actuality, it is going on that first date that is scary. If the date goes well, then that leads to the second date, the third date, and sometimes more that. However, the first date, it seems to lay the groundwork for the future relationship, if there is one.…

I know many people are really against these modern ways of dating. Many older people think traditional dating is the only way a man and woman can fall in love. They believe in the popular boy meet a girl, boy asks girl on a date, and girl and boy fall in love. I happen to agree with those people who believe in the traditional ways of dating. Online dating does not allow you to get the girl or boy in his or her natural element.…
