These warning signs or symptoms include possessiveness, controlling, extreme anger/jealousy, mood swings, low-self esteem, and even drug/ alcohol abuse. These are signs taught to teenagers, as well as men and women. Some of these warning signs, such as possessiveness, can be overlooked or not noticed. Many victims can become brainwashed and believe their abuser is possessive because he or she cares about them. That is not the case, as the goal of the abuser is complete power over their significant other. If the victim is educated on these signs, they will be able to identify when or if their relationship is going south. Students are given the opportunity to educate themselves on a very current problem in the United States. No one can force them to remember the facts, but being exposed to the realities is important.
