When Bri and I started dating in the beginning of freshman year she really loved jewelry and cute little simple things and i would always look around for cute ring and necklace but would never find one that i thought bri would like. A couple month into our relationship we planned on not getting each other anything for christmas and just have a date, But i wanted to get her something small anyways. During thanksgiving me my family and I were in disneyland walking round on the first day in california. We looked at many cute shops and i just kept looking at something cute for Bri. Each day i would look go for a walk and look around for something to get. I could never find anything that got my attention until the last day. The rest of that week i was happy because i knew bri would go crazy to have something so cute from disneyland. On christas eve we had dinner downtown as a family with bri andi just wanted to tell her what i got her but i couldn't! The the next morning christmas day when we were opening gifts i was just wating for nri to knock on the door. When he did i ran to the door with a big smile on my face i handed her the box. The earliest I can remember learning that my gender was different and treated differently from someone else’s was probably when I was five or six years old. I always had to wear a dress or an outfit that was always pink. I had to play with dolls and only do things that little girls would normally do and I of course noticed that boys didn’t have to do anything similar to me so I realized that I was being treated differently simply because I was a girl.…

I hate it when I have prepared, a carefully crafted soliloquy, a sentiment of pure splendor, a plethora of plentiful thought, and my script is discard within seconds because the conversation takes a detour. Conversations are inimitable and completely wild. They roam from topic to topic without a glance at the well written thoughts I have so tedious prepare the night before. When I reach a place to interject a bit of my rehearsed dialogue, it comes unnatural and the conversation withers within seconds. This only contributes to the fascination and passion I have for writing.…

Male Bonding Years later, my father started his own home building and remodeling company. If Dad had a sufficient backlog of work, he hired his own father to assist him; and when each of his sons reached the age of fifteen, he employed us during our breaks from school. By the time Dad engaged my services in the trade, Grandpa’s declining physical capabilities significantly limited his possible work assignments. Although he couldn’t climb or handle heavy lifting, by using a light and compact circular saw, Grandpa could still cut shiplap boards. Frequently, I worked with Grandpa sheathing floors and walls.…

Every Thursday at 3:30pm I get into my dad's Air Force blue, 2005 Ford Explorer, and I am filled with a nausea of excitement. My anticipation cuts through the mixture of country music and old rock ‘n’ roll filling in the car. As a child I was always intellectually curious, musically inclined, athletically challenged, and hungry.…

My interpretation of love is quite different in comparisons to others. Well, at least, it feels that way. I don’t believe love was predetermined by a supreme being nor was it predestined by souls who were once intertwined in their past lives. As bleak as it sounds, love is induced by a chemical combination of sex hormones, dopamine, adrenaline, oxytocin, serotonin, and vasopressin. However, love still maintains its magically powerful presence through its ability to transform the world in a positive place and ultimately, it’s what makes humanity survive.…
