You have to find someone that understands that there may be times I have to leave and may not be able to talk. It can be a little simpler when you go to the guard because you still have a civilian life style. When you are active duty in the military it can be difficult. They are moving around about every two to three years to another base, plus they travel a lot and can be away from home for a month to year on a deployment. When trying to combine the two situations it can make the difficult dating situation. My Boyfriend, Perry is active duty in the Air force and I am Guard with the Air force. We are …show more content…
We have been dating now for a little over a year and half, and we have overcome the normal long distance problems. One of them being that he is work opposite hours then I am. We are only able to talk maybe an hour a day. This can be hard one someone. Especially when they are having a bad week or going through a tough time, Perry and I found when we are having a hard time it best to try to see each other, so we try to skype or face time. When we are not able to, we try to help each other by talking though. Another difficult this leads to is the physical need of touch, for example, holding hands, hugging and kissing. I know when I am having a tough time most of the time I really just want a hug from him, it’s not very easy to do that when you are in different states or even half way around the world. One of the techniques that I have found that works for me is, I have a little bunny that I dress like him. I bring him everywhere when I travel. This little bunny has even been half way around the world with me, on my deployment. We also give each little token that is precious to us to remind us that we will always be there for

I think these modes of relating may be very applicable within this marriage. As I mentioned before, I’m curious about the short length of the marriage and the difficulty being married to a member of such a rigid institution as the military. While my husband was not in the military, he has been in law enforcement for many years and there are many similarities. While my husband does not, others who spend many hours in a structured environment may have difficulty with light conversation, with having fun, or with an unhappy child.…

Robert D Shadley is a retired major general of the US Army. Nearly twenty years ago, he served as a ranking agent in Aberdeen proving ground (an army training facility in Maryland-Harford County). His book The GAMe: Unraveling a Sex Scandal in The Military is a clear demonstration of Shadley’s facility for morality and justice as well as the love of justice. In this 360-pages-long work published by Beaver 's Pond Press, Shadley exposes mischievous acts of sexual assault that pervaded the military, particularly at his station. These ignominious events followed hot on the heels of another sexual assault incidence in the navy, which was known as the Tailhook scandal.…

In this segment we are bringing attention to comfort women; the Japanese Army forced comfort women into sexual slavery during World War II. Comfort women have endured so much pain that they are requesting to receive an apology from Japanese prime minister, Shinzo Abe and they would like to receive an $8 million dollar compensational fund for the survivors. Many of the survivors believe that what they are asking for isn’t enough to pay for everything they have suffered. Christine Ahn states that this is travesty that the survivors are being silenced. The Effects on a Military Family A Soldiers’ life can be unstable sometimes. Sadly, by the time these women got their benefits in 1979, less than 20 of them were still alive. During the last two years of war, nursing became an official role in the military (The Colonial Williamsburg Foundation). Nearly 33,000 served as either nurses or support staff and 400 of them died in the line of duty (The Colonial Williamsburg Foundation).
