Our Inspiration
In the U.S. alone, 18% of women will be sexually assaulted within their lifetime. That’s almost one out of every five women in our country. These women are our daughters, they are our partners, and they are our friends. We conducted a survey on the desirability of a product that could ensure one’s safety and received astounding interest. Our goal is to invent technologies that empower people to protect themselves from this heinous crime. We are dedicated to making a difference in addressing the crisis of drug-induced sexual assaults. We are Cloaked.
Our Solution
We created Cloaked to be an innovative way to inconspicuously test your drink for drugs commonly used to spike a drink for date rape purposes. Other products on the …show more content…
Our sticks will be coated in a non-toxic glowing agent (Dibutyl Phthalate) that will react and illuminate when it comes in contact with common date rape drugs notifying the user that their drink is unsafe to consume. Beyond being minimalistic and a hygienic way to carry our stirrers, our packaging: a corked test tube with 10 single-use stirrers, is symbolic of consumers being ‘scientists’ with the ability to test their drinks for unwanted …show more content…
At a cost per unit of $0.58, we will have a contribution margin of $2.41 that we will use to cover variable costs, research and development, and various promotional events we plan to host in the future.
Our promotion strategy will revolve around word of mouth and active marketing. Besides the online store, our website will serve as a resource connecting visitors to the National Sexual Violence Resource Center and access to testimonials of current customers as well as our other media outlets including Facebook, Twitter, and Pinterest.
85% of Pinterest’s 100 million active users are female. As such, we will be actively marketing on this platform providing an interface where users can share our product, promote awareness, and access our website to learn more about our company and purchase Cloaked products.
Our final promotion will revolve around Sexual Assault Awareness Month. Throughout the month of April, we will be setting up booths and events around bars and liquor stores where we will supply free samples of our product in aims to raise awareness and attract new
